The country imported 444.810 million square metres of fabric and 28.098 million kilograms of fabric during this period. The average price for fabric imported by area was $1.02 per square metre, while fabric imported by weight was priced at $5.78 per kilogram. The value of these two categories of imported fabric was $454.104 million and $162.351 million, respectively, according to Fibre2Fashion's market insight tool TexPro.
Turkiye’s total fabric imports amounted to $1,826.895 million in 2024. It imported 1,226.042 million square metres and 98.755 million kilograms of fabric, with average prices of $1.02 per square metre and $5.84 per kilogram.
In terms of value, the country’s fabric imports decreased in 2024 compared to 2023, when imports were valued at $2,184.159 million. The downward trend began in 2022, when imports reached $2,477.165 million.
In 2023, Turkiye imported 1,596.338 million square metres and 127.007 million kilograms of fabric. The volume of inbound shipments was 2,142.614 million square metres and 108.872 million kilograms in 2022.
The average price of imported fabric was $0.95 per square metre and $5.25 per kilogram in 2023, and $0.86 per square metre and $5.85 per kilogram in 2022, as per TexPro.
Interestingly, the average price of fabric imported by area has shown a consistent rise in recent years, whereas the price based on weight has remained volatile.
