Textile products under Chapters 54 and 55 constituted 24.38 per cent and 18.32 per cent of the total imports during the period, respectively. The import of fabric; knitted or crocheted (Chapter 60), was valued at $494.483 million, which is 6.37 per cent of the total, and textile fabrics (Chapter 59) at $429.500 million (5.53 per cent). Wadding, felt and nonwovens, special yarns (Chapter 56) were $362.184 million (4.67 per cent), wool, fine or coarse animal hair (Chapter 51) $310.751 million (4 per cent), vegetable textile fibre (Chapter 53) $232.716 million (3 per cent), fabrics (Chapter 58) $158.744 million (1.99 per cent) and silk (Chapter 50) $22.852 million (0.29 per cent), according to Fibre2Fashion’s market insight tool TexPro.
Cotton imports by Turkiye dropped by 42.65 per cent from $4.254 billion in January-October 2022. The inbound shipment of man-made filaments and man-made staple fibres also decreased by 23.76 per cent and 27.56 per cent, respectively.
During 2022, Turkiye’s total textile exports were valued at $12.385 billion. Out of this, cotton imports accounted for $4.831 billion (39.01 per cent), man-made filaments $2.877 billion (23.23 per cent) and man-made staple fibre $2.252 billion (18.19 per cent), as per TexPro.
