Apr 2023 marks 17.4% YoY boost in China's road freight sector

China’s road freight sector experienced a significant year-on-year (YoY) increase in April, with a 17.4 per cent surge, as per the ministry of transport. Approximately 3.47 billion tonnes of cargo was reported to be transported.

Data revealed that in January-April 2023, the road freight volume was around 12.04 billion tonnes, marking an 8.4 per cent increase from the previous year. Jilin Province in northeast China saw the most substantial YoY rise in road freight volume at 50.8 per cent, closely followed by Tianjin municipality and Qinghai province in north and northwest China, respectively.

The country’s road freight volume saw a decrease of 4.4 per cent YoY from January to September 2022. Around 27.65 billion tons of road cargo was transferred during this period.
