China's road freight volume down 4.6% YoY in Jan-May 2022

China’s road freight volume declined by 4.6 per cent year over year (YoY) during the first five months of this year. Close to 14.37 billion tonnes of road cargo was transported in the country between January to May, according to data released by the China’s ministry of transport.

The country’s collective road freight volume in the month of May was 3.26 billion tonnes, Chinese media reports said quoting the ministry.

Qinghai Province in northwest China witnessed a 23.4 per cent YoY increase in the road freight volume, while Jilin Province in northeast China saw a YoY decline of 34 per cent during the first five months of this year.
