The commercial freight volume in China recorded a 1.5 per cent increase year-on-year (YoY) in the first quarter (Q1) of this year to reach 11.29 billion tonnes, according to data released by the country’s ministry of transport.Close to 8.15 billion tonnes of road cargo was transported in the same period, recording a rise of 0.4 per cent from last year.
As for the water freight volume, it went up by 5.2 per cent YoY to reach 1.93 billion tonnes in Q1 of this year, Chinese media reports quoted the ministry as saying.
