Faster Bangladesh-Europe shipping possible via Chattagram, Koper ports

A container shipping service directly connecting Bangladesh’s Chattagram port to the Port of Koper in Slovenia may open up the possibility of faster and cheaper shipping from the South Asian country to Europe. The Slovenian port representatives recently apprised Bangladesh’s garment exporters of the prospects, features and benefits of their port.

Bangladesh Garment manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) president Faruque Hassan recently met Wahid Salam, consul at consulate of Slovenia in Bangladesh, and Miha Groznik, consul at consulate of Bangladesh in Slovenia.

Hassan said the direct route might make Bangladesh’s garment industry more competitive by reducing time and cost, and significantly raise the country’s trade with Europe, according to a Bangladeshi newspaper report.

A direct shipping service has already been introduced between the Chattogram port and an Italian port.
