The Sindi Multimodal Logistics Park developed by DeltaCorp in India’s Maharashtra state is likely to begin operations in the new year—before the scheduled commercial operation date—by possibly exporting to Bangladesh via the riverine route.

The Sindi dry port was inaugurated in December last year.

The plan is to take the cargo by rail to Haldia in West Bengal, from where it would further go to Bangladesh in river vessels. This would reduce the cost of transport, making exports competitive, according to a domestic newspaper report.

The facility is expected to support the export of cotton (from Vidarbha), transmission towers, auto parts, two-wheelers, three-wheelers, tractors amd perishable commodities like oranges.
