Japan has granted $383.22 million for the modernisation of Cambodia’s Sihanoukville port. Cambodian minister of foreign affairs and international cooperation Prak Sokhonn and Japanese foreign minister Hayashi Yoshimasa recently signed the documents related to the loan for the Sihanoukville Port New Container Terminal Expansion Project (I).

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen presided over the signing ceremony held on the sidelines of the 55th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Phnom Penh, according to Cambodian media reports.

The concession loan will be used to expand and modernize the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port and to turn it into a deep-sea port, Hun Sen posted on Facebook.
