Export and import operations at Bangladesh’s Hili land port and Chittagong seaport resumed on June 30 after a two-day strike by customs officials and employees ended.

The strike was the result of a complete shutdown declared by the National Board of Revenue (NBR) Sanskar Oikya Parishad that had led to a suspension of all port activities and a halt to the entry of Indian cargo trucks.

The loading and unloading of containers from ships, the discharge of goods and the transportation of export containers arriving at the port are all under way at full swing now at the Chittagong port, according to domestic media reports.

Chittagong customs officials hope that the backlog of work caused by the shutdown will be cleared within a few days.
