At the recent Board of Investment of Sri Lanka (BOI) 45th Anniversary Awards ceremony held at the Presidential Secretariat; HIP has been awarded for contributing foreign direct investment of $1.4 billion from 2017 to 2022.
Johnson Liu, chief representative of China Merchants Port and CEO of Hambantota International Port Group (HIPG), accepted the award from President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
He highlighted additional investments of $28.7 million aimed at bolstering the port’s infrastructure, emphasising their commitment to the ongoing development even as he expressed aspirations for HIP to become the premier service provider in the region.
Liu also underscored the positive impact of HIP’s industrial park, attracting substantial secondary FDIs from the global investors.
He stressed the importance of collaborative efforts among the government, export-oriented manufacturers, and service providers in positioning Sri Lanka as an attractive investment destination.
The event, inaugurated by President Ranil Wickremesinghe and attended by minister Dilum Amunugama and BOI chairman Dinesh Weerakkody, recognised various enterprises across Sri Lanka for their exceptional contributions.
