India's Dec YoY WPI inflation 2.39% for textiles, 1.65% for apparel

India’s annual wholesale price index (WPI)-based inflation rate was 2.37 per cent in December last year, according to provisional statistics released by the ministry of commerce and industry.

Increase in prices of textiles contributed to the positive rate.

The month-on-month (MoM) change in WPI for December stood at minus 0.38 per cent. Sectors that showed MoM increase in prices included textiles and chemicals and chemical products.

The WPIs for manufacturing of textiles and apparel in the month were 136.9 and 154.4 respectively.

The YoY rates of WPI inflation for textiles and apparel in December 2024 were 2.39 per cent and 1.65 per cent respectively.
