Hina Rabbani Khar, Minister of State for Economic Affairs, has called for designers to launch a new range of designs for rural textile items so that they are acceptable in the domestic and foreign urban markets.

The Small and Medium Enterprise Development Authority (SMEDA) has introduced the Aik Hunar, Aik Nagar (AHAN) project to enhance the rural textile products of Sindh as to elevate them to the world standard of fashion and quality.

Khar also said that the government will provide full support for developing modern technology and marketing strategies under AHAN.

She suggested that the initial projects should be concluded as fast as possible so that AHAN can undertake other works.

Shahab Khawaja, Chief Executive Officer, SMEDA, informed the members about the initiative taken for rapid progress of the project.
