Textile processing units mushroom in Perundurai

Number of textile processing units has emerged at the SIPCOT (State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu) Industrial Growth Centre, Perundurai as many textile factories in the regions going in for additional facilities – backward or forward integration.

In addition to 14 existing units, at least 10 more have started functioning during the last two years.

Twenty five more medium-scale units are in process. Total investment in each unit is Rs10 crore to Rs40 crore and are started by the existing textile units located in Coimbatore, Erode and Tirupur, says C Thangavel, Deputy Manager at the SIPCOT.

These are export-oriented units or integrated textile units.

Thangavel said that as the textile industry grew rapidly, another 30 to 40 units were expected to be set up at the SIPCOT in couple of years.
