Dyeing and printing of cotton cloth in Rajahmundry city existing since last five decades, faces stiff competition from polyester cloth being extensively sold in market.
This city is famous for sarees which are marketed all over the state of Andhra Pradesh.
At present, five companies are producing 10,000 cotton sarees generating monthly turnover of around Rs 1 crore.
To manufacture sarees, Kora cloth is purchased from Aleru, Janagama, Bhongir in Andhra Pradesh and Mumbai in Maharastra by the industries.
