Ludhiana's hosiery industry is all set to foray into global market with the advent of French buyers to Ludhiana as they prefer Indian product to Chinese for sourcing directly to their country.

French Exporters Textile Federation, known as `La Federation' having a 200 to 600 member-strength across France, visited local woolen knitwear units of Ludhiana as part of a CII-European Federation of Textile initiative to discuss various aspects of sourcing knitwear products from the city.

Ludhiana manufactures wide range of high fashioned products such as cardigans, pullovers, jerseys etc. which could be sourced to members of our federation, said La Federation's International Manager, Anne Laure Linget.

The federation may decide to source materials from India than China as the region's expertise in knitwear industry was very high, she added.

Ludhiana knitwear annually produces hosiery products worth Rs 5000 crore and its exports reach Rs 1000 crore, including goods worth Rs 350 crore exported to Europe.
