All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) requested the government to provide common platform to compete with regional players.
APTMA Chairman, Shafqat Elahi, said that world's textile trade is estimated to be around $300 billion and according to experts, Western countries will start outsourcing textiles from efficient and cost-effective countries by 2014.
He further informed that Pakistan's current trade volume is around three percent and if country maintains current level then textile exports alone would touch $24 billion.
Chairman also condemned failure of zero rating of sales tax on textiles and the tariff structure on synthetic textiles.
Elahi expresed concern over fluctuating interest rates, rising energy prices and increasing cost due to inflationary trend.
