Football fever has turned on the heat in the world business and garment industry of Bangladesh is no exception as knitwear exports to Germany increased due to soccer lovers passionate buying of FIFA World Cup jerseys and T-shirts along with other clothing, according to Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA).
Knitwear exports surged 51 percent to US $805 million (euro640.41 million) from July 2005 to April 2006, said Fazlul Hoque, President, BKMEA.
To give necessary impetus, BKMEA has plans for holding a three-day trade fair in Germany this September.
The fair will help get beter German market share for local knitwear industry, added Hoque.
