Benarashi Sari weavers strongly demanded proposed plot in the 'Benarashi Palli' within 15 days.
They also threatened that if their demand were not fulfilled, they would declare strike for uncertain period and start demonstration.
Abdul Zabbar of Weavers Association Secretary said that though Government had ensured to allot 906 plots to the weavers, till now no work has been done; he also added that if government did not stick to its promise, strike would be the only option left for weavers.
In 2003, Government had collected Tk10,000 each from 18,553 Benarashi weavers to allot the plots.
On the other hand, Textile Minister has ensured to fulfill the commitment made by the Government.
Situation may get worsened if the issue is not sorted out soon.
