Textile industry holds strong position

More than 500 companies attended the 8th Annual International Istanbul Ready-Wear Fair started on August 24 at TUYAP.

Turkey has developed proper infrastructure for textile as its textile products are competitive withstanding cheap Chinese products.

Turkey holds strong position in textile sector with noticeable market share, stated Vassilis Masselos, Chairman, World Ready-Wear Federation (IAF).

Country's textile manufacturers should identify global requirements and latest technology before making huge investment, Masselos added.

Turkey exported textile and confection accounting for 25 percent of total exports worth $20 billion.

Turkish companies are recognized across the world as they produce high-quality products at competitive prices, State Minister Kursad Tuzmen stated.

To develop fashion industry in country, a fashion institution is likely to be set up in Istanbul, he added.
