Leather and Footwear Association (Lefaso) has once again started protest against proposed anti-dumping duty on country's footwear exports to EU.

European Commission has decided to levy provisional tariff of 10 percent on Vietnamese footwear imports, earlier this year.

Lefaso Chairman Nguyen Gia Thao stated this duty as unjustifiable and due to proposed duty poor workers will be adversely affected.

Country's footwear production has plunged and small workers are struggling for livelihood as they have been losing orders from EU market which accounted for 70 percent of country's footwear exports.

Vietnamese footwear workers are hopeful for positive outcomes as some of the EU member countries such as Sweden, Denmark and Netherlands have been opposing this proposed tax.

Lefaso Chairman Nguyen Gia Thao informed that European Branded Footwear Coalition, Brussels-based Footwear Association Importers Retail chains and the Federation of European Sporting Goods Industries (FESI) had filed formal complaints with the EC.
