Apparel sector in Italy has registered a noteworthy recovery during May-July period with production at 106.5 (2000=100) in July from 104.5 in June. Output in July was the highest since July, 2004 and 2005.
Among apparel, underwear was the highest gainer with production increased by 3.2 percent compared to last year. Knit/crocheted pullover production increased by 21 percent in July, the highest level since May, 2005.
The improvement has been possible thanks to shift in focus to high-end unique blend products. This has enabled them to export high-end apparel to markets like China.
