Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL), is planning to raise Rs5,200 crore debt from the market to realize its expansion plans of increasing its refining capacity to 15 million tons.
Petrochemical complex to be set up in Mangalore will be realized through a Special Purpose Vehicle of ONGC and the project will be completed in the next three years.
Naphtha to be produced after the expansion will be used as feedstock for the production of Paraxylene and Benzene. The petrochemical complex will be producing paraxylene.
For the production of 0.95 million tons a year of Paraxylene and about 0.15 million tons of Benzene, around two million tons of Heavy Naphtha will be needed as feedstock.
Naphtha and propylene will be used to produce polymers such as high-density polyethelene, linear low-density polyethelene, polypropylene and mono-ethylene glycol by Olefin Complex.
