Jordan is going to replace Bangladeshi laborers with Jordanians in its garment factories. Labor Minister Bassem Salem informed that Jordan had plans of deporting laborers owing to allegations of breaching foreign workers' rights against employers, in qualified industrial zones (QIZ).

Salem added that factory owners tried deporting ten striking laborers to Bangladesh, but were unsuccessful. He would penalize the factory.

'Attacks' and other garment factories in Jordan were accused of breaching foreign workers' rights through human trafficking, excess working hours, passport seizure and neglect in overtime pay, a report of US National Labor Committee (NLC) reveals.

It was further stated by the NLC report that 18 laborers asking for basic legal rights were fired, jailed, thrashed and compelled to be deported to Bangladesh.

Laborers of Rainbow Textile Company located at Al Dulayl Industrial Park in Zarqa are on strike and they demand rigorous thrashing, forced 15 hour shifts without overtime pay and passport seizure to be halted.
