A proposed code of practice has been released for a three-month public consultation period for clothing industry in South Australia to protect workers' earnings.
SA Government feels some clothing workforces are being under-paid by as little as US $2 an hour.
Industrial Relations Minister John Hill said the code aims to make clothes-making process from the factory floor to retail, more transparent.
Code will compel retailers, suppliers and contractors to maintain and provide information, keep records relating to engagement of workers.
This will make the manufacturing location of the piece of clothing identifiable and final assessment and procedures could be taken care of.
