According the statistics from the Customs, in January-September, 2006, China import and export amounted to US $1272.61 billion, up 24.30 percent from the same period of last year, of which, export recorded $691.23 billion and import registered $581.38 billion, gaining 26,50 percent and 21.70 percent respectively with a trade surplus of $109.85 billion.
During the first nine months, the import and export amount of China's textile and apparel totaled $121.234 billion, up 21.85 percent from the corresponding period of last year, accounting for 9.53 percent of the country's foreign trade value.
Textile and apparel export reached $107.775 billion, rising 24.25 percent from the same period of last year, accounting for 15.59 percent of the country's export amount, of which, textiles exports were $38.455 billion, up 18.32 percent from the same period in 2005.
Apparel export reached $69.32 billion, growing 27.64 percent against the corresponding time of previous year.
Textile and apparel import amounted to $13.459 billion, 6.08 percent higher from the same period of last year, accounting for 2.32 percent of the country's import value; Of which textile import was $12.16 billion, 5.39 percent over the same time of last year; apparel import registered $1.299 billion, increasing 13.10 percent of the same period in 2005.
In January-September, 2006, textile and apparel recorded a trade surplus of $94.316 billion.
