Eco-crafts exhibition, which will run for ten days, was opened at NEDFi Haat in Guwahati. It has been organized by Creations Society for Handicrafts and Goodwill and sponsored by Ministry of Textiles.
K Ahmad, Director, Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship Guwahati, who was chief guest at the inaugural function, expressed grief on the limited production of handicraft works. He said it was essential that entrepreneurs teamp up to manufacture good quality products.
He revealed plans for next year to upswing the total number of Manipuri handloom weavers to 5000.
Kamesh Salam, Director, Cane and Bamboo Technological Centre Guwahati, informed in his presidential speech that marketing was the major obstacle troubling Manipuri entrepreneurs. He said they should manufacture good quality, artistic items to ease product marketing.
Manipuri handlooms and handicrafts as well as fancy wood carving works are displayed at the 19 stalls in this expo.
