Cotton consumption in Mexico was constant in August as production of cotton yarn and fabric has been almost same since last year. Production in this month upturned only 0.3 percent from 2005, which shows slowing of growth.
Apparel production per month dropped 1.8 percent which represented 16th successive month of loss as against last year. Garment exports to the US in January-September this year went down 13.2 percent.
Export of cotton products including ladies slacks, innerwear, gents knit shirts, nightwear and skirts are collapsing because countries like India are trying to obtain bigger share of US markets.
