Major textile players are becoming increasingly aware that within next two years Qualified Industrial Zone (QIZ) would end, leaving them limited time to strengthen trade relations with chief importers like the US and the EU.
With competitive pressures from Asian giants like China and India, Egyptians need to find more avenues and strategies to grab new markets and expand traditional ones.
Analysts are concerned that textile industry depends too much on the QIZ, which may leave the sector paralyzed after 24 months.
No matter how successful this QIZ scheme has proved to be, too much reliance will be destructive.
Besides, under this program country's key sector, cotton, has been neglected and has remained underdeveloped.
Renowned Egyptian cotton is performing well in exports, but the '100% Egyptian cotton' logo has been violated generously.
Hardly anything is being done to protect this national signature.
