In spite of the current slump in textile and garment exports to US, cotton spinners have revived business in recent months.
This revival has come about at a time when local apparel industry is bearing sustained production loss.
Cotton yarn and fabric production in September 2006 grew four percent from same period last year, which was the fourth successive month of growth. This figure has been the highest for September in last five years.
Cotton denim fabric production in the country has recovered after a lengthy low-output period, which is also considered to have improved overall cotton trade.
Apparel output dropped 5.2 percent in September as against same month 2005, which marked 17th successive month of reduction. In October, textile and garment exports to US declined 10.6 percent in capacity.
