Unexpected closedown of a factory and rumours of worker's murder led to the damage of 10 apparel units and wreckage of vehicles on January 10, 2007.

Workers also stole garments, furniture, computers and construction materials from these factories.

Due to rumours of goons of owner of Padma factory killing labourers' leader Sayeed, workers went on strike. They were under impression that Sayeed's dead body was hidden inside the factory.

Protestors stole construction materials from the Padma factory and set fire to a machine there. They vandalized seven other apparel units. Police was called to safeguard the factory.

A 12-member BGMEA committee is inquiring about the vandalism.
