Textile industry is not able to give tough competition to countries like China and India because of its outdated production machinery.
Due to these obsolete machines and smuggling of textile products, especially from China, textile industry's growth is stagnant.
Investment of more than US $5 billion is estimated to reform textile industry with state-of-the-art technology.
However, Indonesian textile industry has an edge over other countries in terms of cheap labour and subsidies provided by the Government.
