Per capita clothing consumption in Beijing rises

In January-February 2007, the per capita disposable income of the 3000 surveyed urban households in Beijing was 4,122 yuan, recording a year-on-year increase of 12.3 percent. After deducting price factors, the actual growth was 11.6 percent.

The per capita consumer expenditure was 2,589 yuan, up 5.7 percent over the same time of the previous year, after deducting price factors; the actual growth was 5.1 percent.

January-February had New Year's Day and Chinese Spring Festival. The per capita expenditure on clothing and footwear of Beijing urban residents were 236 yuan and 70 yuan, respectively.

This registered an increase of 20.4 percent and 29.6 percent over the same time last year, the highest of growth rates in consumer expenditures.
