Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜIK) revealed recently that the Consumer Price Index (CPI) as well as Producer Price Index (PPI) climbed 0.02 and 0.85 percent, respectively, in August as compared to the previous month.
For January-August 2007 period the CPI increased 3.13 percent and PPI was up 3.93 percent. Annual inflation according to 12-month average basis was 9.46 percent in CPI and 8.29 percent in PPI.
CPI declined for clothing and footwear, furnishings, transportation and communication.
The highest monthly increase in the PPI of industrial activities was 6.25 percent for crude petroleum and natural gas production.
The index slid for apparels and garments compared to the previous month.
The high rates of annual increase were in the industrial price indices for electricity and gas at 20.09 percent and metallic minerals at 13.47 percent.
