Prior to Nanocomp, Banash was with Zyvex Corporation, where he was director for production and quality of the company's nanomaterial products. He managed all manufacturing operations, including the design and construction of Zyvex's pilot plants, and created a supply chain certification process to assure customers of receiving quality carbon nanotubes.
Banash also led Zyvex to ISO:9001 registration by creating a quality management system that ensured customer specifications were built into nanotube-based products.
Before Zyvex, Banash was a senior scientist at Millennium Chemicals and worked extensively on product development and manufacturing issues related to the incorporation of the company's pigment products in a variety of polymer matrices. He also used statistically designed experiments to discover key processing variables related to product performance and quality characteristics.
Banash holds a Ph.D. in physical chemistry from Princeton University, an M.B.A. from the University of Maryland University College and a B.A. with honors in chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania. He is an adjunct faculty member in operations and technology management at the University of Maryland University College.
