Cashmere clothes dominate local consumer markets

Demand for cashmere clothes have been running high in China largely because of its distinctive thin, light and warm characteristics. However, clothes containing a very small proportion of cashmere are also attracting customers by means of its low price.

For instance, the price of a garment containing 7.4 percent cashmere is approximately RMB 300, while an apparel having 100 percent cashmere will not cost below 1500 yuan a piece.

Reports confirm that local markets are seeing a huge influx of garments having very low percentage of cashmere ranging from 20 and 30 to 70 percent whereas some clothes contain even less than 4 percent of the material.

Recent trend among entrepreneurs show an increasing tendency to add cashmere in all the garments in order to yield higher profits. Besides, the line of distinction between a pure and blended cashmere cloth is becoming blurred since a processed garment containing 50 percent of the material will look as good as the one having 100 percent.
