EU has announced that it will end the anti-dumping tax on China in 2008. However, unconfirmed news regarding prolonged trade restrictions is making manufacturers anxious. Heeding such news as well as to cope with RMB appreciation, some Taiwan shoes enterprises have planned to move the production bases from China to Indonesia.
Presently, around 20 Taiwan shoes enterprises will shift their manufacturing facility to Indonesia with a total investment of about US $4 billion.
These companies have urged the Indonesian Government to provide 500 hectares of land for setting up the factories.
