The clothing is one of the highest revenue earning industries in Guangdong Province and Guangzhou city has the largest clothing wholesale market in the southern part of China.
However, due to Government's encouragement and higher opportunities, industries in eastern part of china are shifting their bases to western part of the country. Thus, some new clothing bases like Zhejiang Province are gradually rising weakening the advantage of Guangdong Province.
According to statistical reports, this year, exports of Zhejiang Province exceeded the earnings of Guangdong Province. There are other reasons behind this decline. Many international clothing brands enter Chinese market via Guangdong Province giving tough competition to the clothing manufacturers as well as traders of the region.
In order to over come the present situation, over 300 clothing enterprises from Guangdong Province have planned to set up wholesale shops in Hangzhou International Garment Plaza which will start operating by next year.
