The Union Cabinet gave its ex post facto approval for setting up of “Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Institute of Textiles Management” (SVPITM), Coimbatore with a Plan support of Rs.29.00 crore during the 11th Five Year Plan.
The Institute would be a centre of excellence in the field of textiles management and research studies.
This decision would enable the Institute to have infrastructural facilities, viz. Purchase of land, Administrative Block, Hostels, Canteen, Computer Labs, Computers and Software & Teaching aids at a cost of Rs.18.00 crores.
