MRPL to set up aromatic unit in Mangalore

ONGC Mangalore Petrochemicals Ltd(OMPL) is promoted by ONGC & MRPL for setting up aromatic unit in Mangalore SEZ (MSEZ).

With feedstock of Naphtha & Reformate to be supplied from MRPL, this unit will produce 920 TMT of Paraxylene & 140 TMT of Benzene per annum. The Company has already appointed Project Management Consultant (PMC) and also finalized the process licensor. The project is expected to be commissioned by end 2010. ONGC & MRPL will be holding 49% equity in the OMPL & balance 51% is proposed to be offered to public / strategic partner etc.

Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL), a subsidiary of ONGC operates a modern refinery with 9.69 MMTPA of design capacity located at Mangalore and equipped with state of the art technology. Expansion & up-gradation of refinery to enhance its capacity to 15 MMTPA is under execution. The market capitalization of MRPL as on 5th October, 2007 is Rs.11,850 crores.

OMPL invites Expression of Interest from interested Indian as well as foreign parties
1) To set up PTA plant at Mangalore ensuring upliftment of Paraxylene from OMPL upto 920 TMTPA on their own and

2) To set up any other downstream plants ensuring upliftment of Benzene from OMPL upto 140 TMTPA;or,

3) For upliftment of Para-Xylene & Benzene from OMPL on long-term basis for further processing or for trading purpose. (TMTPA : Thousand MT per annum)
