Foreign direct investment grows in Jan-Feb

In 2008, China has achieved a faster growth in terms of foreign investment. China's foreign direct investment reached US $52.15 billion in 2008, a year-on-year increase of 96.7 percent.

Contracted foreign projects completed a turnover of $56.6 billion, a year-on-year increase of 39.4 percent, newly signed contracts amounted to $104.6 billion, a year-on-year increase of 34.8 percent.

From January to February this year, China's contracted foreign projects completed a turnover of $7.96 billion, a year-on-year increase of 24.8 percent.

In order to deal with the current international financial crisis and attract more and more foreign investment and stimulate economic growth, the Ministry of Commerce has recently developed a new approach.

The new proposal will hasten reforms in the foreign investment management system and at the same time promote Chinese investments in overseas destinations.
