Taiwan leads in ownership of garment factories

According to figures released by the Garment Manufacturers Association of Cambodia (GMAC), Taiwan is the leading nation in terms of investment in the garment factories. Investors from Taiwan own 68 out of the 274 clothing manufacturing units in operation.

China with 55 factories is the second biggest investor in the burgeoning garment sector, while Hong Kong and South Korea with 51 and 32 factories vie, for the third and fourth place in the number of units.

US with seven garment manufacturing plants came at seventh place and is the biggest investor outside Asia. In the previous year, Taiwan had invested US $21.5 million while China invested an awesome $4.3 billion.
