The Vietnamese domestic textile and apparel sector has uninitiated a programme for the benefit of people living in the islands and the marine force. This project will set up a fund which will help in the betterment of their living standards.

According to the project, for each VND 1 million, consumers spend on buying a domestically produced goods or products; VND 2,500 from that amount will go towards the fund.

This is not to be interpreted as a sign of protectionism, rather, this is a lofty and beautiful act of patriotism and a boon to the consumption culture, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai said at the announcing ceremony.

Experts are of the opinion that, this move will not only help domestic businesses overcome the current difficulties caused by the global economic crisis but also contribute to ameliorating the living conditions of fellow-citizens and soldiers.
