Venice, California based maker of handcrafted jewelry designs Dogeared Jewelry has designed a 'Make a Wish' necklace to raise proceeds and awareness for the foundation's goal of granting an unprecedented number of wishes this holiday season.
When designer Marcia Maizel-Clarke recognized the need for jewelry that speaks, she founded Dogeared Jewels & Gifts in 1991 and created the original world jewelry and charms. The response to these word jewels and the success of the Make A Wish series of silk thread necklaces, gave birth to a family of products that capture the magic of words, symbols, wishes and dreams.
Her unique, custom cast jewels are regularly featured in fashion, lifestyle, and celebrity publications, in such films as Elizabethtown and Monster-in-Law, and hit television shows, including OC, Will & Grace, ER, CSI: Miami, and Desperate Housewives. Dogeared Jewels & Gifts are sold by trendsetting retailers around the world, including Fred Segal, Kitson, Sundance, Intuition, and Red Envelope. All Dogeared products are handcrafted in Venice, California.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy.
Born in 1980 when a group of caring individuals helped a young boy fulfill his dream of becoming a police officer, the Foundation is now the largest wish-granting charity in the world, with 72 chapters in the US and its territories.
Granting more than 12,000 wishes a year and 132,000 wishes in the United States since inception, the Make-A-Wish Foundation celebrates '25 Years Making Wishes Come True' in 2005.
