At the start of last week, benzene prices dropped in Asia, noticeably.

Yet, with the increase in demand over the weekend, fueled by rising crude and naphtha prices, Benzene prices were marked higher again.

Prevailing market uncertainty on the energy prices, Benzene prices were pegged at US $630/mt FOB.

If energy prices are to decline this week, Benzene will face a price drop immediately.

Benzene in China rules below RMB 5500/mt. However, market sources reveal that with the Launch of two new plants in Asia, SM and YNCC in South Korea that will require Benzene feedstock will render stability to Benzene prices.
