Japanese clothing sales dip in Feb

Clothing sales across Japan fell 1.5 percent to ¥83.96 billion in February, over January.

However, overall retail sales across all products, rose 0.6 percent to ¥925.28 billion month-on-month, the first sales increase recorded in 27 months.

This was stated by the Japan Chain Stores Association, citing data from 62 firms and 7,927 stores.

Sales of suits and formalwear were down in womenswear category, but grew in case of jackets, blouses and sweaters.

The same trend was reflected in menswear where sales of coats, jackets and pant perked up, but suits and formalwear moved slowly
