UK-based Directa Plus, one of the largest producers and suppliers of graphene-based products for use in consumer and industrial markets worldwide, is now developing a technology to transfer an electrical signal exploiting the electrical conductivity properties of graphene, according to its chief executive officer and founder Giulio Cesareo.

Graphene is a form of carbon consisting of planar sheets which are one atom thick, with the atoms arranged in a honeycomb-shaped lattice. This would open a lot of opportunities in the smart textile domain as being lighter, safer and easier to maintain, graphene is more convenient for metallic wires, he told TechnicalTextile.Net in an interview.

Indian shops will soon see grapheme plus-enhanced denims, a result of an ongoing agreement with Arvind, he added.
