The agreements encompass the establishment of a Special Economic Zone in Kurigram, the establishment of a Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit in Thimphu, and technical collaboration on consumer rights.
Additionally, a renewal of the MoU on cultural exchange further underscored the commitment to mutual enrichment.
The signing ceremony, as reported by the media, saw health minister Samanta Lal Sen, executive chairman of Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) Shaikh Yusuf Harun, directorate of National Consumers’ Right Protection director general (additional secretary) A H M Shafiquzzaman, and Cultural Affairs secretary Khalil Ahmed representing Bangladesh.
This significant event took place at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), with Bhutanese King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as witnesses.
The day’s engagements included a delegation-level meeting between the Bhutanese King and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, further fortifying the foundation for cooperation.
A one-to-one meeting between the leaders served to deepen understanding and pave the way for effective collaboration.
Prior to the signing ceremony, the Bhutanese King received a warm welcome from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her office, symbolising the warmth and camaraderie characterising the relationship between the two nations.
These developments mark a significant stride in the journey towards shared prosperity and strengthened ties between Bangladesh and Bhutan.
