Bangladesh’s commerce minister Tipu Munshi is visiting New Delhi this week to meet Indian commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal and discuss the road map for negotiations on the India-Bangladesh Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). The two sides have reportedly finalised a joint feasibility study on the proposed CEPA.

The issue of anti-dumping duties on jute and jute-made products is likely to be raised by Bangladesh, according to a report in an Indian financial newspaper. India has been imposing anti-dumping duty on jute from that country since January 2017 and this was extended till the end of this year.

The negotiations will cover intellectual property rights (IPR), investment, e-commerce and trade in goods and services.

The CEPA is expected to boost trade and investment between the two countries, especially in the Eastern and North Eastern region.
