Bangladesh’s gross domestic product (GDP) growth at constant prices in the third quarter (Q3, January-March) of the last fiscal (FY24) was 6.12 per cent, primarily because of sound industrial performance.

The growth rate in Q1 FY24 was 6.01 per cent, while it was 3.78 per cent in Q2, data from the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) showed.

The GDP growth rate was 7.03 per cent in Q1 FY23, 7.08 per cent in Q2 and 2.3 per cent in Q3 FY23.

The industrial sector saw the highest 7.03-per cent growth during Q3, followed by the agriculture sector (5.46 per cent) and the services sector (4.97 per cent). The performance of the sector in Q3 FY23 was 4.98 per cent, followed by 1.88 per cent for the agriculture sector and 1.47 per cent for the services sector.

BBS data showed the GDP size of the country in Q3 FY24 at current prices was taka 13,478 billion; it was taka 11,443 billon in Q3 FY23.
