While multiple international organisations have noted that tariff barriers have substantially increased global trade costs and seriously affected the efficiency and stability of global industrial and supply chains, posing downward risks to global trade, China will work with more trading partners to jointly cope with the challenges and share development opportunities, ministry spokesperson He Yongqian told a recent press conference.
China will steadfastly manage its own affairs, addressing various uncertainties, the spokesperson was cited as saying by a state-controlled news agency.
China's trade in goods totalled 25.7 trillion yuan (~$3.6 trillion) in the first seven months this year—up by 3.5 per cent year on year, with the growth pace accelerating by 0.6 percentage points from the first half of the year, data from the country’s general administration of customs show.
